Clothes moths or food moths?
Clothes and carpet moths
Textile moth larvae can damage wool, fur and feathers. Check undisturbed places such as carpet edges, beneath furniture and inside wardrobes. Other insects can damage fabrics too, so identification comes first.
Moths in food cupboards
Larvae or webbing in cereals, nuts, pet food and other dry products suggest a different source. The inspection checks stored food and nearby areas rather than assuming the problem is in textiles.

Treatment and preparation
The plan may include targeted treatment, cleaning, storage changes and monitoring. Any insecticide is used according to its approved label. Treatment cannot repair existing fabric or stock damage.
Photograph damage and avoid moving suspect items into unaffected rooms. Tell me about children, pets, delicate fabrics and previous treatments. Follow fabric care labels; valuable items may need specialist cleaning.
For food-related activity, isolate suspect products and discuss disposal and cupboard cleaning. Do not spray food or packaging.
Aftercare
Follow the agreed cleaning and access instructions, record sightings and report continuing activity. Concealed sources or several affected rooms may need further visits. Monitoring helps assess progress, but moths can be introduced again.
