Find the cause
Which silverfish are present?
Common silverfish favour humid rooms. Grey silverfish can live in drier conditions, so reducing damp alone may not resolve the problem. A photograph or safely contained specimen helps with identification.
What the inspection covers
I check the affected rooms, accessible hiding places and signs of moisture. Note where and when insects appear, and any damage to books, wallpaper or stored papers. One sighting does not establish the extent of an infestation.
Where leaks or ventilation problems are relevant, building repairs may also be needed. Pest treatment does not replace them. Read BPCA’s silverfish guidance.

Treatment and next steps
Treatment and preparation
The plan may combine targeted treatment, monitoring and changes to storage or room conditions. Products are used according to their approved labels. Tell me about previous treatments, children, pets, aquariums and sensitive items before the visit.
Keep inspection areas accessible. Avoid moving suspect boxes into unaffected rooms. Preparation and any access restrictions will be explained before treatment.
Aftercare
Follow the cleaning instructions and record new sightings. Reduce unnecessary paper clutter and address confirmed leaks or ventilation problems. Do not add sprays or disturb monitoring points without advice.
Hidden activity or adjoining flats may need further investigation and visits. Follow-up arrangements will be agreed for your property.
Prices and booking
Your quote depends on the affected rooms, access and treatment plan. You’ll receive the total including VAT, the work covered and any follow-up charges before booking. See the price guide or ask about commercial premises.
